Morning Kick Starter: Banana Goji Berry & Chia Seed Smoothie Deluxe

A banana smoothie isn't really a smoothie unless you add in a few super-chargers.  This morning as I was munching on some delicious Goji Berries right out of the bag, I decided to throw some into my blender, along with a handful of Chia's, for a yummy morning breakfast kick starter.  Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but sometimes when you don't have the time to sit down for a proper meal, a smoothie is the next best thing.  After all, sitting around my office with a loud tummy growl can be really distracting, so that's why I reach for a quick fix.

If I'm not careful, I can eat a whole bag of goji berries in one sitting - that's how addicting they are.  Besides being good tasting, the nutrient value of these red wrinkly buggers is just outstanding.  Goji Berries pack a powerhouse of health benefits, this superfood is loaded with antioxidants and beta-carotene, which is vital for a clear, healthy and glowing complexion.  They're expensive though, but so worth every penny.  You only need a small handful to get all the benefits proclaimed here.  More benefits include:
  • Improves eyesight
  • Protects liver & kidneys
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Does wonders for the Pituitary gland by releasing HGH (Human Growth Hormone)
  • Reverses the effects of aging
  • Prevents fatigue
  • Relieves headaches and insomnia
  • Improves libido
  • Improves circulation
  • Reduces blood pressure and cholesterol

This is why I'm so enamored with this miracle healer and why I snack on Goji Berries as often as I do - so often in fact, that sometimes during a movie night out with my husband, I'll sneak a ziplock bag full of Goji's into the movie theater for the munchies.  He's happy with his popcorn but I'm even happier with my Goji's.

Now, let's not forget Chia Seeds.  They also have their own list of nutritional health-benefits.  They contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, antioxidants, and calcium.  And, whenever you're in need of some extra energy to help you make it through your day - chia seeds are the answer.   Plus, chia seeds help you feel fuller faster, so it's the ideal choice for weight loss as it regulates your appetite.

Fiber is really important in ones diet.  By regulating your digestive system, skin issues clear up.  I love the high fiber content in chia seeds, it's a healthy form of fiber that helps keep your colon clean and your skin acne free.  Your skin begins to glow, hair begins to look fuller and more lustrous and nails grow stronger - all due to the massive amounts of vitamins, minerals and healthy omega's loaded in chia seeds.

To Make This Smoothie, You'll Need:

* 4 Ripe Bananas
* Handful of Organic Goji Berries
* Handful of Non-GMO Chia Seeds
* 1/2 cup Filtered water

Directions:

Blend your bananas with the filtered water then add in (as many as you wish) Goji Berries and handful of Chia seeds.  I always choose the finest and best chia seeds on the market - free of pesticides, herbicides or chemicals like the ones in this recipe.

 Enjoy!!!!

  1. Thank you Laura for this awesome post. I have heard that people who want to lose weight must not eat Bananas. Is that a myth?

    1. Hi and thanks for your feedback. In regards to your question, Yes, I've heard the same thing, but I think this has a lot to do with the fact that bananas, out of all other fruits, possess the highest calorie count and contain a specific type of fiber that's known as resistant starch, which makes it harder for the body to absorb - it does fill you up and makes you feel fuller but it also inhibits the body's ability to burn carbs, which bananas are made of, so if you're eating nothing but bananas all day long, then that would be unwise, but as with all foods, moderation is key, I wouldn't completely stay away from bananas, I would just exercise self-control when it comes to them.
